Floodgate provides a separate authentication flow for login with a Bedrock account on a Java server using Geyser. First verify that Geyser is working.
Step by step

Download the Floodgate version compatible with the installed Geyser platform from the official source. Do not mix Paper and Velocity packages.

Install Floodgate in a location compatible with Geyser. Set the authentication type in the Geyser configuration to the Floodgate option in the official installation.

Restart the server and check that Floodgate has been successfully installed. If there is a proxy network, follow the platform instructions for switch and back server integration.

Try logging in with a Bedrock account. If the username prefix or UUID has changed, check the permissions and whitelist record against the visible ID.
Keep in mind
Do not share the Floodgate key file with players or public logs.
