How to install Minecraft Bedrock Dedicated Server?

Bedrock Dedicated Server is separate server software for Bedrock clients. If players are using Java Edition, you need to make a connection plan separately.

Step by step

  1. Download Microsoft's official Bedrock server package according to your operating system and extract it to an empty folder. Check the supported operating system version from the documentation.

  2. On Windows, run the bedrock_server.exe file in the package. On Linux, launch the binary from its own directory with the library path setting in the documentation.

  3. Check the server name, port and allow-list settings in server.properties. If external access is required, allow the corresponding UDP port.

  4. Try the local IP and port first with the Bedrock client from the same network. Then, if you want external access, try again from an independent network such as a mobile network.

Keep in mind

Do not mix the Java server jar file and the Bedrock server package in the same working directory.
