How to enter Minecraft Java and Bedrock server?

Java and Bedrock are different clients. First find out which edition the server accepts, then the address and port if necessary.

Step by step

  1. In the Multiplayer in Java section, turn on the Add Server option. If the address uses the regular port, type the domain name. If a private port is announced, use the format play.example.net:25566.

  2. Add a server from the Servers section in the Play menu on supported devices on Bedrock. Enter the address and port in separate fields. Use the port given by the server.

  3. Select the client version your server wants and the modpack, if any. Adding to the list does not initiate the connection, select the server registration and press the Join button.

  4. If the status query is open but there is an error in the game login, save the full text on the screen. The version or permission problem is solved differently than the internet access problem.

Keep in mind

The option to add a private address on consoles may vary depending on the device and game version.
