How to check whether a Minecraft server is online

Minecraft status query with address and edition shows whether the server responds to the listing protocol. Look at the time of the query as well as the result.

Step by step

  1. Enter the server address and port if necessary. Different ports may have been announced for Java and Bedrock under the same name.

  2. If you get a response, check the player count and version tag. This information comes from the server's status response and can be presented by the proxy.

  3. If there is no response, check the DNS and network stages in the connection diagnostic tool. When you see a timeout, try again with the same address after a while or from a different network.

  4. Try real login in appropriate version to verify the result. Joining may fail even when the status is clear due to maintenance message, occupancy, or whitelist.

Keep in mind

The last known result should not be treated as a new online response. If the measurement time is old, query again.
