How to configure Minecraft spawn protection

If the blocks in the spawn area cannot be broken for normal players only, check the vanilla spawn protection. Zone protection plugins can also cause the same symptom.

Step by step

1. See if the problem is only around the world spawn point. Test with a non-OP account.

2. Find the value spawn-protection in the Java server.properties file. To reduce the protection area, reduce the radius, if you want to turn it off, do 0.

3. Restart the server properly. If you have WorldGuard or claim plugin, check the region rules separately.

4. Perform separate block breaking tests inside and outside protection with normal account. If the results don't change, look at other layers of protection.

Keep in mind

If you only want to protect the lobby, determine which area to protect before removing the entire spawn area.
