How to create a world with a new seed on the Minecraft server?

Seed is the input of world production. Instead of preserving the existing structures and turning the entire world into a new seed, create a new world folder.

Step by step

  1. Back up old world and player data. Shut down the server process properly.

  2. In server.properties, write the new value in the level-seed field. Choose a folder name that has not been used before for level-name.

  3. Open the server with the new world. Version, world generator, and datapacks can affect the outcome of the same seed.

  4. Confirm expected terrain and spawn point. To return to the old world, use the backed up settings and world folder together.

Keep in mind

Just changing the seed line in the existing world folder will not reproduce the saved chunks.
