What ports do Minecraft Java and Bedrock use?

The default Java gaming port is 25565 TCP, the classic Bedrock IPv4 port is 19132 UDP. The configuration of the server and the transport format used may change these values.

Step by step

  1. For Java, look at server-port in server.properties. If you are using a proxy, the address to which players connect is the port of the proxy, not the back server.

  2. Look at the server-port and server-portv6 values in Bedrock Dedicated Server. If you are using Geyser, read the port and transport settings on the Bedrock side from the Geyser configuration.

  3. Open modem and firewall rules for the correct protocol. Just passing the TCP test does not verify the classic Bedrock UDP connection.

  4. Write the private port Java address in the format play.example.net:25566 and the Bedrock address and port in separate fields of the client and test.

Keep in mind

Some Geyser transport options impose requirements other than classic UDP. Check the relevant section in the documentation for the installed version.
