MOTD is the short description the player sees in the server list. In Java the text is usually set in the server.properties file, in proxy networking the proxy the player connects to.
Step by step
-
Determine whether the player address goes directly to the server or to the proxy. Change MOTD on externally responding component.
-
Edit line
motd=in fileserver.propertiesdirectly on Java server. Start with short and simple text first. -
If you're adding color or a second line, use the code format supported by the component. Check that the text is not cut off and Turkish characters appear in the Minecraft client.
-
Restart regularly and refresh the server list. Compare your own client with the text that appears in the external status query.
Keep in mind
A MOTD plugin may override the configuration. If the file changes but the result does not change, check the plugin or proxy setting.
